BETSO88 Login
One evening, BETSO 88 Login and Elena saw the famous Chocolate Hills at sunset for the first time; the name was given to the rounded hummocks covering the island, many of which reach the height of the Empire State Building, because they turn brown during the dry season. As he eagerly climbed to the top of one of the hills nearby to witness a panoramic view of thousands of hills spreading across the countryside, BETSO88 Login’s breath was taken away. The sun, already setting in the west, sent crimson shadows across the peaks of the hills.
Up at the lookout, BETSO88 Login was drawing the landscape furiously: all its soft undulations and brown tones. As he sketched, he promised one day he’d collect the perfect shapes for clothes, modest, elegant and sustainable, like the local women he admired.
Fifteen years ago, Elena took BETSO88 Login to a natural cave near the old riverbed, accessible only to locals, and the petroglyphs, as old as the castle itself, etched on its walls started a conversation between the past and the present. Large human figures, interacting with animals and pricked by zip-like designs, were believed to convey talismans for fertility, wisdom and sexuality. The scenes of daily life and religious rituals of past centuries became a visual journey that BETSO88 Login translated into silks and velvets, embroidered with these motifs by a team of women artisans.
Back at Loboc, he attended a riverside festival honouring flood-rich abundance, with traditional music, dance and cuisine that he sketched, photographed and tried to inculcate with poems and words, to capture the heritage of Bohol. BETSO88 Login was awestruck by the undulating grace of dancers dressed in beaded costumes with embroidery. He spent many hours taking photographs and drawing their performance.
Drawing inspiration from the festival, BETSO88 Login began with a collection that might be understood as a celebration of movement and fluidity. The fabrics were light and flowing, matching the appearance of the river; colours were taken from what he could see and the patterns were derived from the intricate bead work and artwork that he also saw around him. The collection was created to inspire a close, fitting garment with a sense of joy and celebration of the people of Bohol.
BETSO88 Login’s Tarsier Sanctuary visit in Bohol was a kind of a climax of his trip. He was soon quite taken with the tarsier, a native primate to the island with large, buggy eyes and disproportionately long limbs, and begged again and again to see this creature that he’d only known in children’s books. He was fascinated by its minute size and its nearly parasitic way of perching in the trees.
As he watched the tarsiers, he sketched their details and gestures, an experience that led him to design an accessories line that is ‘elegant with a subtle playful twist’. He made use of bamboo and abaca fibre, which creates pieces crafted of ‘soft and light materials as these tarsiers’, he said.
‘My journey in Bohol must be coming to an end,’ he remarked some days before he left. The island had revealed itself and its secrets to him through the journal and it had, he said, given him a wealth of ideas in its landscapes, people and traditions. His time in Bohol had given him a further insight into Filipino culture and more to feed his design philosophy.
